Joy Kleinmaier is a healthcare executive with a distinguished career in strategy, corporate development, and mergers and acquisitions spanning multiple healthcare subsegments, including hospital systems, health insurance, and wellness services. Currently she is serving as a strategic advisor to a healthcare start up focused on nutritional management of chronic conditions in the important ‘food as medicine’ space. She most recently served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer at American Specialty Health, Inc., a national health and wellness provider of in person and virtual clinical care, where she led strategic growth initiatives, driving the company's market positioning and expansion efforts.
Prior, Joy was Senior Vice President of Strategy, Business Development, and Market Analytics at Indiana University Health. There, she guided strategy development and execution for the state-wide and nationally ranked academic health system, and led key clinical partnerships, acquisitions, and significant market expansion initiatives, extending its reach of clinical care to patients throughout the state.
Before moving to the provider side of healthcare, Joy was Advisor to the CEO and Director of Mergers and Acquisitions Integrations at the Fortune 20 health benefits provider, WellPoint, Inc. (now known as Elevance). Joy began her career with a foundation in finance at JPMorgan Chase in New York, where she held leadership positions in Commodities Exchange, Investment Banking, Integration and Strategy for over a dozen years and held two expatriate assignments with this global financial institution.
Joy's academic credentials include an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS from Cornell University. She actively participates in her community and holds leadership roles in the nonprofits she serves, including serving as Treasurer of the national board of the American Lung Association, past chair of both the Midwest Regional Board and the local Indiana Board of the American Lung Association, current Chair of Marion County’s Commission on Youth, and Vice Chair and Chair-elect for the Indiana Repertory Theatre. Joy also serves as an approved home host and care giver through Safe Families for Children supporting youth and their families in Central Indiana.
