Columbus Man Climbs 40 Flights in Memory of Dad

By sharing his experience, Josh raises funds and awareness in Lung Association event, Feb. 25

Josh Greenlee is climbing 40 floors, 880 steps to honor the life of his dad who passed away from pulmonary fibrosis. It’s  part of the American Lung Association in Ohio’s Fight for Air Climb at Rhodes Tower on February 25.

He says there are many other reasons he participates in the event. “The impact, and awareness we bring to lung disease. Also, being around others that may have loved ones battling or battling themselves. We are all in it together,” said Greenlee. A few weeks after his dad passed away on September 29, 2020, Josh was named an ambassador for the event.

As an ambassador, he helps promote the Fight For Air Climb, raises awareness of lung diseases and encourages others to join the mission and support the Lung Association.

“The Lung Association makes it about more than just the financial piece. That's the easy part,” he said. “It's the awareness that is brought, education, preventive care. They are also inviting to everyone.”
Ever since his first climb, Greenlee has raised close to $4,000. He will join hundreds of other climbers with similar stories to create a special bond as they take their steps up at Rhodes Tower on Saturday, February 25. The first wave of stair climbers begins at 8 a.m.

Greenlee is available for interviews about the climb, and you can contact James Martinez at James.Martinez@Lung.org or (312) 445-2501 for requests.
