10-, 7-Year-Old Cleveland Boys Climb Progressive Field in Memory of Great Grandparents

Join mom to support research for a cure for lung cancer
For the ninth consecutive year Danielle Kresak will continue her mission to help fund a cure for lung cancer and honor her late grandparents who both died of the disease.

Only this year will be a little different because her two sons will be joining her in what has become a family tradition, participating in the American Lung Association’s Fight For Air Climb at Progressive Field.

I originally got involved in 2011 in honor of my grandparents because what they went through had such an impact on my life,” said Kresak.

This year she will be tackling the stairs with her team, “You've Got NYCZ Lungs.” and she is looking forward to having her two sons alongside her the 1,200 steps at Progressive Field.

“I am most passionate about the research that this event funds and to help find treatments and cures for lung diseases such as lung cancer, asthma and COPD. I don’t want my boys to witness the ugliness or have to go through any of those illnesses,” she said.

Knowing that she is making her grandparents proud is one of the reasons that brings Kresak joy during the climb.  The American Lung Association has made a very big impact in her life for the last nine years and she is very passionate about the Lung Association mission.

“I think the stair climb is the perfect event when it comes to the lungs. It shows you how important they are and how important it is to have healthy lungs and take care of them,” said Kresak.

She and her sons will be among hundreds of people climbing to raise awareness and funds at Progressive Field on April 30.

She is available for interviews about the climb, and you can contact James Martinez at James.Martinez@Lung.org or (312) 445-2501 for requests.
